Nowhere
in the world is the combination of terrain, weather, temperatures
and snow conditions as ideal for helicopter skiing and snowboarding
as in the numerous unpopulated mountain ranges of British
Columbia. Since the start of the operation in 1991, an ever
growing number of skiers and snowboarders are visiting TLH
Heliskiing year after year. There, in the magnificent Chilcotin
Mountains, they find the place to enjoy an outstanding heliskiing
vacation. The operation has the perfect combination of only
two groups per helicopter, luxurious western-style lodging
and the best powder skiing imaginable.
1. LOCATION
The base for TLH Heliskiing is at Tyax Mountain Lake
Resort, on the shores of beautiful Tyaughton Lake, approximately
125 miles (200 km) north of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Transfers to Tyax Mountain Lake Resort are provided by courtesy
bus from Vancouver or Whistler Resort. Helicopter transfers
from Vancouver or Whistler can be arranged on request.

heli-skiers and snowboarders find a luxurious and cozy atmosphere
with accommodation in spacious double or single rooms
all with en-suite bathrooms.
From the dining room and the balcony, you'll be impressed
with views of Tyaughton Lake and the surrounding majestic
peaks. Relax around the massive stone fireplace, enjoy a

day of heliskiing on video while our chefs prepare your
dinner buffet.
Enjoy our games room with ping-pong and foosball
a fitness room, and sauna are also available for your enjoyment.
A resident massage therapist is always on hand to relieve
any aching muscles. After skiing, coffee, tea and homecooked
treats are served in the lounge. Many guests also enjoy
a relaxing soak in the outdoor jacuzzi with its panoramic
view of the lake and mountains.
If conditions are unfavorable for skiing or snowboarding,
try some snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice fishing or simply
enjoy a leisurely walk on the nearby trails.
With its splendid wilderness location, western charm and
numerous indoor and outdoor activities, The Lodge is also
ideal for non-skiing guests accompanying heli-skiers on
vacation. Everyone enjoys the magnificent scenery, pure
winter air and tranquil setting.

THE TERRAIN
TLH
prides itself on some of the world's most exciting heli-skiing
and boarding, set amongst the magnificent and heavily glaciated
Chilcotin Mountains. The quality and variety of this terrain
has fast become famous around the globe.
The Glaciers & Open Bowls
Glaciers and alpine bowls stretch forever. Carve turns through
the deep blankets of powder, surrounded by jagged and awe
inspiring peaks.

THE PROGRAM
Check-In
Day
Upon arrival at The Lodge you will attend an informal welcome
session to meet the TLH crew and to run through the daily
schedule. At this time we explain the waiver form which
must be signed prior to skiing.
Although TLH endeavors to keep groups together, the guides
make the group selections. This is in the interest of making
the experience of all guests as enjoyable as possible.
Skiing Days
On your first skiing day, your guide instructs you on the
use and care of the electronic Avalanche Transceiver. Everyone
has an opportunity to practice several searches. Afterwards,
you meet your pilot at the helicopter and go through a helicopter
safety briefing. The first groups in each helicopter depart
the lodge daily at 8:45 a.m.
Breakfast
A delicious breakfast is served daily at 7:30 a.m. One of
the guides informs you of the day's weather forecast, snow
conditions and specific departure times for each group.
Lunch
Lunch is a relaxed outdoor picnic-style affair in the mountains.
Enjoy a hearty lunch of home-made soup, sandwiches, dessert,
accompanied by hot and cold drinks.
Dinner
Join your guides at 7:00 p.m. in the dining room for dinner.
The group's daily vertical is also posted at this time.
Check-Out Day
You have your bags packed and to be checked out of your
room in the morning before you depart for your last day
in the powder. Upon your return from skiing there's plenty
of time to shower and change into your travelling clothes.

SAFETY
The
Guides
The guides are chosen not only for their guiding skills
and qualifications, but also for their enthusiastic and
outgoing personalities. They are professional guides who
have passed a series of comprehensive examinations to qualify
them as members of the A.C.M.G. and the U.I.A.G.M., the
recognized Canadian and International Mountain Guide Associations.
They are experienced at balancing exciting and challenging
skiing with the safety and enjoyment of the entire group.
Snow and Avalanches
The guides continuously monitor the weather conditions and
evaluate the snow stability in an effort to minimize hazards.
They choose suitable skiing areas based on these evaluations
and the groups' skiing ability.
Helicopters and Pilots
The guests enjoy the comfort and reliability of 11 passenger,
jet-powered, Bell 212. For smaller private groups we also
use jet-powered A-star helicopters. The pilots are chosen
to meet the same high standards as our guides, and have
a wealth of experience flying in the mountains. Helicopter
maintenance is provided by an on-site team of engineers.
Emergencies
Continuous radio contact between the pilots, guides and
the lodge ensure a fast response in the event of an emergency.
The guides carry emergency equipment in their packs, additional
equipment is carried in the helicopters, and there are several
rescue caches within our ski area. If needed, two hospitals
and additional helicopter bases are within 30 minutes flying
time.
Insurance
If an evacuation by helicopter is needed in case of an accident,
the costs are at your expense. Please ensure that your regular
medical insurance covers transportation by helicopter or
ambulance from our lodge to the nearest hospital.
6.
EQUIPMENT
Skis
and Poles
The Guides and the majority of guests have come to prefer
the mid-width skis for heli-skiing. Their versatility combines
the flotation of a fat ski and the carving ability of a
giant slalom ski. These specially designed powder skis make
heli-skiing seem effortless to the advanced skier and allow
the less experienced powder skier to feel more confident.
Skis and poles are included in all packages. Snowboards
are NOT available.
Bindings
All skis are equipped with Salomon bindings, which have
proven to be the most reliable and versatile binding for
heli-skiing. Touring boots are compatible with these bindings.
Boots
The best boots for heli-skiing are comfortable ski boots
that you have used before. Avoid new boots, as pressure
points could cause injuries or discomfort. We have no stock
of ski boots and we recommend that you carry your ski boots
on the plane as hand luggage to ensure they arrive safely.
Gloves
Long gauntlet-style powder gloves are highly recommended
for keeping powder out from under the ski suit or jacket
cuffs.
Clothing
On any given day a wide variety of weather conditions and
temperatures may be encountered; we recommend that you wear
two or three thin, removable layers under your ski suit.

RESERVATIONS
Registration
and Payment
The space available for Heli-Skiing in our remote wilderness
Lodge is limited
A deposit of Can. $900 per person, or the equivalent in
local currency, has to be made to TLH within 10 days of
receiving a written reservation confirmation. The payment
of the balance is due 90 days prior to the beginning of
the Heli-Skiing package. If the payment balance required
is not received by TLH on time, the reservation will be
cancelled without notice to the skier and will be treated
as a cancellation by the skier more than 90 days in advance
of the beginning of the arrival date. For bookings of packages
made less than 90 days prior to their beginning, the full
package-price is due immediately.
Cancellation
If a cancellation is necessary for any reason, it should
be made in writing. If a confirmed reservation has to be
cancelled more than 90 days before the beginning of the
package, TLH will keep the deposit of Can. $900 per person
and package. The deposits for Heli-Skiing are totally non-refundable!
If a cancellation is made less than 90 days before the arrival
date, the total package price is due in full. No cancellation
fee has to be paid if the skier cancelling his package finds
himself a suitable person as his substitute to take over
the contractual obligations, but only if the cancelled space
is still available.
Liability
By registering for a TLH Heliskiing package you acknowledge
the risks of mountainous areas in winter weather conditions.
You are aware of the fact that even a highly qualified mountain-guide
is not infallible and that, under these circumstances, he
sees himself confronted with extreme situations which are
not fully controllable. Therefore, his duty will only consist
in limiting the risk to a minimum. Each participant will
be required to sign a RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS,
ASSUMPTION OF RISKS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT before being
allowed to ski with TLH.
Insurance
Types of travel insurance recommendED are:
· Medical insurance to cover hospital costs and ambulance
expenses
· Helicopter evacuation insurance which covers evacuation
from the
field to our lodge
· Personal insurance to cover loss of baggage, skis
and personal belongings
· Liability insurance
Various
The participant is responsible for arriving on time at the
TLH departure point and for conforming to the Canadian Customs
Regulations. BLADE RUNNER ADVENTURES will be pleased to
assist you in booking your flights, hotels and pre- or post-Heli-Skiing
arrangements.
