3.THE SKIING
Resort map
.
You'll ski one or two runs varying in length from 500 to 1500 vertical meters (1600 to 4800 feet), before being served lunch and outdoor picnic lunch. (Skiing continues after lunch). Needless to say, the higher your fitness level, the more enjoyable your day on the mountain. If you have the gusto for more, be our guest. There are at least 130+ ski areas to choose from. Merely pay for the extra runs upon return to base.
Varied terrain and pace challenge the intermediate and advanced skier. If you ski in control regardless of the snow conditions, you are a candidate for Western Canada's most exhilarating ski experience. Skiers are grouped by "stated" ability levels and ski runs chosen to best suit the general calibre of the 11-person group. On days when there is only one group skiing, the pace is matched to the most moderate skier. Powder instruction is readily offered by your personal guide.
Helicopter skiing is totally weather dependent. The weather determines where we ski orwhether we can ski at all; it also affects the snow conditions. Heli-skiing on open slopes and glaciers is only possible when the weather is clear. These slopes are quite high and exposed and, therefore, good weather alone does not assure good skiing conditions. Open slopes can be windblown and, later in the season, can also develop a breakable suncrust on southern exposures. At times when there is a lot of new snow, even though the weather may not be clear, we can find very good skiing below the tree line. Although not on open slopes, the skiing is very enjoyable here for a good skier because of the snow quality. Our aim is to give you the best skiing available every day, but since we do not control the weather, the best skiing we find some days may be very tough and/or in the trees!
You should be at least an intermediate skier and, in your own

4. A TYPICAL DAY
Groups complete their safety talks after breakfast and will fly directly from the Heli-Plex, 5 minutes walking distance far from the Panorama resort or are bused to a nearby staging area.
Skiers are assembled into 11-person groups and are allocated guides who brief on helicopter safety and the use of an avalanche transceiver. These groups of skiers are divided based on "stated" ability. After the orientation, groups depart by helicopter from either the Heli-plex or Mineral King Mine staging area. Destination: the Purcell Mountains and its 2000 square kilometers of spectacular open snow fields, glaciers and gladed tree runs
Lift off for the first group will be approximately 10:30am, after breakfast, served in the lodge returning to the Heli-Plex from 3:00pm on.
Groups are determined by stated ability and we direct all clients to our skier ability levels to determine this rating.

5. SAFETY
Each morning during a meeting of the guides and pilots, a general operational plan is discussed. This plan takes into account weather, flight safety, snow safety and operational considerations. There will also be a backup operational plan in case conditions change. While flying the guide and pilot will discuss the next landing site and will determine where it is safe to land based on cloud, wind, temperatures, group weight and other operational considerations. Each ay we base our decisions on safety first. Once the safety issues are addressed, we strive to take our guests to the best possible skiing
On your first morning of helicopter skiing, you will attend a number of safety briefings. One of the first briefings is how to bundle your skis for loading them into the helicopter. If you have a snowboard, there is no bundling required! Once you have bundled your skis, you then proceed to the helicopter to be introduced to helicopter safety.

6. EQUIPMENT
"FATS" are the skis of choice for powder veterans and are a must for first-time Heli-skiers. So after checking in and filling out a ski rental form, you'll be fitted with the right equipment for a day on the slopes. Clothing should be layered for sub-zero temperatures. At altitudes exceeding 3000 meters (10,000ft), and with annual snowfalls of 1100 centimeters (36ft), goggles, hat and ski gloves are not options. For sunny days, bring sunglasses and skin protection - all available in our gift shop

7. RESERVATIONS
Call Blade Runner Adventures, a simple credit card number is fair enough to reserve your space to heaven!
Since your guide and pilot cannot change the weather or any of the other factors listed above, it is best for you to relax and realize that all these factors and more have been taken into consideration before you land on a given run. On days when the morning weather is questionable, we may delay departure to see if the weather improves. If we cannot fly because of weather considerations, you will be refunded for the skiing that you have paid for. If we get out skiing and cannot finish the day due to changing weather, you will only be refunded for each run that you did not ski, at the same rate that you would have paid for extra runs. If you are unsure what this means, please consult our refund policy.
