At Last Frontier, some of the world's most outstanding heliskiing tree runs, vast glaciers, challenging terrain and an unbelievable snow depth are waiting to be discovered by you. The area we ski offers an almost unlimited choice of heliskiing runs. LFH has fabulous tree runs, many of them offering naturally open glades. The open heliskiing terrain extends in all directions from the lodge and is easily accessible within a few minutes of flying.
At Last Frontier Heliskiing the goal is to maximize customer satisfaction. To achieve this, an exclusive program provides an intimate skiing experience. As guest, you will enjoy all the benefits of skiing in a group of five, in a comfortable A-Star B2 or Bell 407 helicopter. This will allow you the freedom of skiing different, more varied ski terrain tailored to your needs. It also guarantees more personal attention from the certified guides.
If you are searching for some of the best helicopter skiing in the world, truly adventurous, untouched terrain and a more intimate experience, come ski and explore with Last Frontier.1.

1. LOCATION

Last Frontier Heliskiing is located 220 miles (360 km) Northwest of Smithers, British Columbia. The small resort of Bell II, situated along the Stewart - Cassiar Highway, is the home for the winter season.
2. THE LODGE
Bell II Lodge was built in the mid-seventies, as a service station with accommodation for travelers on their way to the Yukon Territories and Alaska.
The lodge has recently been entirely re-modeled, re-furbished and renovated. It offers the comforts of a first class hotel with a rustic touch of the Canadian wild.
The dining room, lounge and bar act as the focal point for skiing and snowboarding stories to be shared. Guests are accommodated in log chalets, located apx 100 meters from the lodge. All rooms have a private bathroom and two queen size beds.
After a day of skiing or riding excitement on the slopes, a Jacuzzi / hot tub and sauna are adjacent to the chalets and ready for your relaxation. The resident masseuse will be on hand to ease any aches from the day.

3. THE TERRAIN
The Glaciers and Open Bowls:
Last Frontier Heliskiing offers you glacier and open bowl skiing second to none. The abundance of snow allows us almost endless possibilities to ski / board the challenging terrain within the vast area.
Our open runs are on average between 2,500 - 3,300 vertical feet (750 - 1,000 vertical meters). The longest runs are approximately 5,000 vertical feet. Skiing amongst the majestic peaks of the Skeena Mountains is a truly awe inspiring experience. Finding good powder snow is generally an easily achieved objective given the consistent snowfall.
The Trees:
Trees are for many skiers the most exciting and challenging skiing imaginable. The snow usually is untouched by the wind and stays light and fluffy for a long time. There is nothing more exhilarating than to spend a day skiing the trees with a heavy snowfall, covering your tracks behind you.
Many of the tree runs, are close to the lodge and easily accessible in poor weather. The outstanding quality of these runs, insures that the tree skiing will live up to and exceed the expectations of the most demanding skiers.
Vertical Footage:
On average we ski between 10 and 12 runs per day or 30,000 vertical feet (9,200 vertical meters). Per week, our guests average 150,000 vertical feet (45,000 vertical meters). On a 'good weather' week one can ski over 200,000 vertical feet (61,000 vertical meters), during a 'poorer weather' week 90,000 vertical feet (28,000 vertical meters) is realistic.
The amount of skiing we do is determined mostly by the weather and snow conditions, but also by the desire of each group of skiers

5. SAFETY
The Guides
The guides have been chosen not only for their guiding skills and certifications, but also for their enthusiastic and outgoing natures. They are professionals who have passed a series of comprehensive examinations to qualify them as members of the A.C.M.G. or U.I.A.G.M., the Canadian and International Mountain Guides Associations. They are continually balancing exciting and challenging skiing with the safety and enjoyment of the entire group.
Snow and Avalanches
The guides continuously monitor the weather conditions and evaluate the snow stability in an effort to minimize the hazards to the guests. They choose suitable skiing areas based on these evaluations and the groups skiing ability. You must realize, however, that a certain element of risk remains which is impossible to eliminate.
Helicopters and Pilots
The pilots are chosen with similar qualities in mind as the guides. Not only are they very experienced in mountain flying, but they are also professional and outgoing by nature. LFH charters small and powerful A-Star B2 and Bell 407 helicopters which accommodate 5 guests, a guide and pilot. Helicopter maintenance is provided by full time engineers based at the lodge for the duration of the season.
Emergencies
Continuous radio contact between the pilots, guides and the Lodge enables a fast response in the event of an emergency. The guides carry emergency equipment in their packs, additional equipment is carried in the helicopters and we have rescue caches at Bell II lodge and in the field. In an emergency, two hospitals and additional helicopter bases are within 30 - 40 minutes flying time.
Guests must be aware that the costs for evacuation transportation by helicopter are at their own expense. With the purchase of Helicopter Evacuation Insurance, Last Frontier Heliskiing Ltd. provides full coverage for helicopter evacuation from the ski area to Bell II Lodge in case of a personal injury while Heli-Skiing. Please ensure, prior to departure, that your regular medical insurance covers transportation by helicopter or ambulance from Bell II Lodge to the nearest hospital.

6. EQUIPMENT
Skis and Poles:
Skis and poles are provided for you as part of all packages. At LFH you ski on a mid width ski that combines the flotation of a fat ski and the carving ability of a giant slalom ski. This ski is available in different lengths from 160 cm to 190 cm. These specially designed powder skis make Heli-Skiing seem effortless for the advanced skier and allow the less experienced powder skier to feel confident and enjoy the sensation of deep powder skiing.
The LFH ski shop stocks a variety of ski poles suitable for Heli-Skiing which are included in all packages.
Clothing:
On any given day, you may encounter a wide variety of weather conditions and temperatures. We recommend two or three thin layers, which are easily removed, be worn under your ski suit.
Boots:
Your normal ski boots are suitable for Heli-Skiing. Avoid new boots as pressure points will spoil the fun. There is no no stock of ski boots at the Lodge and we recommend that you carry your ski boots on the plane as hand baggage so that they are sure to arrive!

7. RESERVATIONS

Registration and Payment
The space available for Heli-Skiing in this remote wilderness lodge is limited. To avoid disappointment, we strongly suggest you register early. A deposit of Can. $900 per person, or the equivalent in local currency, has to be made to Last Frontier Heliskiing at the time of your registration. The payment of the balance is due 90 days prior to the beginning of the Heli-Skiing package. If the payment balance required is not received by Last Frontier Heliskiing on time, LFH reserves the right to cancel the reservation without notice to the skier and it will be treated as a cancellation by the skier more than 90 days in advance of the beginning of the arrival date. For bookings of packages made less than 90 days prior to their beginning, the full package-price is due upon registration
Cancellation
If a cancellation is necessary for any reason, it should be made in writing. If a confirmed reservation has to be cancelled more than 90 days before the beginning of the package, Last Frontier Heliskiing will retain the deposit of Can $900 per person and package. The deposits for Heli-Skiing are totally non-refundable. If a cancellation is made less than 90 days before the arrival date, the total package price is due in full. No cancellation fee has to be paid if the skier cancelling his package finds himself a suitable person as his substitute that takes over his contractual obligations, but only if the cancelled space is still available.
Liability
By registering for a Last Frontier Heliskiing package, you acknowledge the risks of wilderness skiing in a mountainous area during winter weather conditions. These risks are described in the sample waiver you must be aware that in the extreme environment in which wilderness skiing takes place, even a highly qualified mountain guide is not infallible.
Each participant will be required to sign a RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISKS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT before being allowed to ski or snowboard with us. A sample of this waiver form is reprinted in this brochure.
Insurance
Types of insurance that we recommend are:
- Medical Insurance to cover hospital costs and ambulance expenses
